Non-contact boxing is a growing trend in the fitness industry. It offers a multitude of benefits, including enhanced cardiovascular health, and is appropriate for people of all skill levels. It also has proven helpful to those with neurological conditions, such as Parkinson's and Multiple Sclerosis.
Boxing training enhances both physical ability and mental toughness. The boxer uses physical strength, speed, agility, coordination and cardiovascular conditioning, as well as mental tenacity. When boxing moves are performed properly, the boxer will also demonstrate controlled aggression.
The boxing trainers at HNH Fitness possess the knowledge and experience to help all athletes achieve their maximum physical potential. They also help the boxer find that one unteachable, intangible quality: heart.
In addition to enhancing cardiovascular health, boxing also provides the following benefits:
HNH Fitness offers different types of non-contact boxing sessions:
Rock Steady is non-contact boxing that helps to improve balance, coordination and posture, particularly for those affected by Parkinson's, Multiple Sclerosis and other neurological diseases. It teaches clients to focus and maintain accuracy and memory through sequenced punching combinations.
"The last thing to age in a person is his heart!" Rocky Balboa.
As they age, most people are unable to do many of the things they did when younger - but they still have the ability to make a fist and throw a punch. In the Silver Gloves Program, participants utilize that strength and train like professional boxers.
Silver Gloves is designed to provide senior fighters with the opportunity to exercise in sessions that challenge their physical abilities as well as their mental and cognitive awareness. Unlike other senior programs, Silver Gloves pushes participants to adapt and grow by throwing punches in complex combinations with controlled force.
Participants perform tasks that fighters have been using to train for hundreds of years. Specifically, they will train for three-minute intervals, then rest for one minute, similar to the routines that professionals follow. Using several types of bags, the participant will develop hand-speed, coordination, cardiovascular integrity and muscular strength.
The women's boxing program at HNH Fitness is designed to not only strengthen the body, but the mind, as well. During sessions, participants develop the skills to successfully fight off an aggressor. The program is an intense workout that builds both muscle and confidence.
Participants soon learn that being an effective fighter has little to do with physical size and strength. Rather, it is tied to the will to win – but winning is also determined by who puts in the effort. True strength is gained through confidence acquired by sweat and hard work. Participants learn they cannot only survive an attack, but they can win.
